RWG Sharing Session: Information and registration

How are you practicing? Evaluating the current state of conservation of Indigenous cultural heritage in Canada

October 18, 2022, 12:30 to 4:00pm EST, Zoom

There is no fee to participate in this session.

Registration from all CAC members is greatly encouraged – we need to hear from you!

The purpose of this session is to gain insight into how conservators in Canada are currently practicing (not how they should be practicing), and the barriers they face in aligning with principles of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and other core Indigenous-led guidelines and recommendations. This activity will inform the (Re)conciliation Working Group’s (RWG) recommendations to the Canadian Association for Conservation of Cultural Property (CAC).

Facilitated by Archipel and members of the RWG, this sharing session will involve small and large group discussion in a safe, open, and relaxed virtual environment. Participants will follow the RWG Communications Guidelines throughout the event.

Select mandatory and supplementary readings and discussion questions will be distributed in advance of the sharing session.

Participants who are more comfortable sharing and discussing in French can indicate this in the form. The large group discussions will be conducted in English (although it will be possible to contribute in French), but we will group participants wishing to discuss in French during the smaller group discussions.

The CAC-RWG would like to acknowledge that the sharing session has been made possible in part with funding from the department of Canadian Heritage and the Parks Canada Agency.
